We ate as much as we could over Christmas then we squeezed into the shiniest sequined outfits for New Year’s Eve. And now we’re forced to go back into our normal routine when all we want to do is stay in bed, binge-watch You on Netflix and finish all the chocolate left after the festive period. January is the time of the year when I feel the least glamorous of all months. So how am I supposed to feel like a superstar again in the new year? Easy – by using my trusted New Year makeup staples. The makeup products that found their way into my life some time at the end of 2018 and are definitely staying for longer.
Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner
I love a dramatic cat eye look as much as the next girl. Unfortunately, my eyes aren’t the biggest fans. Or maybe they are so in love with this look they just cry of happiness. It doesn’t matter. What matters is the fact that about an hour after applying my eyeliner, I used to go from a cat woman to a panda bear real quick. Kind of as fast as Sims can get changed. I needed something that could take on a stream of tears literally pouring out of my eyes and still look intact. Was I asking for much? I thought so. But Stila definitely delivered. And whilst it’s still not 100% perfect, it doesn’t smudge and tends to just disappear slowly in a magical way. At the same time, it’s fairly easy to remove when I clean my face which I’m happy about as I was kind of scared it would stay on my eyelids forever.
WeLoveLashes false eyelashes
False lashes have never been something I would have considered a staple in my makeup look. And as much as they’re a great addition, to me, they just don’t work for an everyday look. But carnival is an exception even I can’t resist. Plus, as a 24-year-old woman, I felt like I need to try what the hype is all about. WeLoveLashes kindly sent me a couple of pairs of false lashes to try out and see how I feel. Whilst the more dramatic lashes don’t really suit me and my makeup style, the natural ones made a great addition to my Christmas look and I will definitely be reaching for them again. Although, I do seem to have an allergy to the Revlon eyelash glue, hit a girl up with any recommendations!
Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks
Charlotte Tilbury has become myย go-to brand in 2018, at least when it comes to lip products, and my love for it is definitely still going strong. So far, I’m a proud owner of 2 incredible lipsticks from CT, but I am definitely looking into expanding my collection. I have been trialingย a couple of face creams recently so maybe, that could be a good addition in my skincare routine? Let me know if you’ve got any favourites from Charlotte Tilbury as I can get very overwhelmed with all the options available! What would you recommend?
Kobo highlighters
I’m a contouring noob. I’ve tried quite possibly all the products and watched all the Youtube tutorials on how to highlight and use a bronzer, yet I still have no idea how all the girls out there can do it so perfectly. It must be a talent sent from God, I guess. Nowadays, I use my bronzer as an eyeshadow, but I’m slowly getting a hang of highlighting my cheeks. It may sound like the easiest thing in the world to some, but, trust me, I would end up with a glitterball look before instead of somewhat of a healthy glow. Or whatever you want to call it. I got Kobo highlighting palette as a gift from Santa and so far I’m really enjoying it. It’s super glowy and offers a range of 4 different highlighting shades. Let’s hope for a brighter future (and cheekbones) in 2019 with this new addition to my makeup collection!
These are the items I have tried and loved at the end of 2018 and I’m definitely bringing that love with my into 2019. I’ll be using them on a regular basis soon, but for now, I’m trying to give my skin some well-deserved break and lots and lots of pampering. It sure does need it after all the chocolate I’ve been demolishing since December and festive makeup looks. I’m excited to see where 2019 will take my makeup collection. Let me know in the comments what makeup staples you’re bringing into 2019 with you and what new makeup products are you the most excited to try out?
Until next time xxย
