Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s going to get even more festive. Am I complaining? Absolutely not. Bring on the food, the decorations, wrapping presents as one of the most magical time of the year is just around the corner. Now, I just can’t wait to start opening my advent calendar and count down the days! To celebrate the beginning of the season to be jolly (or the middle of it, if you’re like me and defrost Michael Buble on the 1st of November), I’m bringing you a very special post. It’s special because it’s a first Christmas post on my blog, but more so, because it is also a first guest post on here! I bring to you a gorgeously talented Amy Mia! Keep reading for her amazing tips on how to have radiant beauty during the holidays.
Wee, the holidays are coming! We honestly can’t wait because there’s nothing quite as exciting as all those parties, get-togethers, and family dinners to make us feel giddy and full of positive energy. Just think about all that hot spiced Christmas cider that’s coming your way! You can’t tell us you don’t feel at least a little happy about this. Now, take that glowing smile and let’s use it as our starting point. Today, we’re talking about ways to make your cheerfulness reflect on your face, and how to look like a beautiful, radiant goddess at every single holiday event that’s coming your way. Get ready to take all those compliments after you apply these tips.
Get mentally ready
To us, the holidays mean the taste of hot pumpkin pie straight from the oven, the feel of fuzzy socks on our feet, gathering around the Christmas tree and singing, our mom’s silly laughter after a few glasses of wine. It’s about the scent of apples and cinnamon, about cloves and bergamot, about that spice of fall and winter.
Darling, the best way to glow is to remember your favourite things about the holidays. Don’t let them come with stress in mind, don’t let the rush and the worrying ruin all the fun. Take some time to do nice things for yourself so you can relax. Why not grab a hot mug of tea and a sexy romance novel, or maybe you’d like to make your own winter perfume with some essential oils, or perhaps just indulge in some fun shopping. The point is, let yourself be happy and it will show.
Hydrate
Booze, salty food, stuffy rooms filled with smoke, lack of sleep – it can all dehydrate you pretty quickly. Drink more water than usual to make sure your skin remains nice and plump.
Don’t get lazy with skincare
You’ll be tired, but you really do need to remove every last trace of makeup before you go to bed. Cleanse and moisturize regularly, and make sure to incorporate a vitamin C serum into your routine if you haven’t already. It’s really the fastest, most effective way to a luminous complexion. Also, the night before any big event, put on a face mask and let it rehydrate and repair your skin, and give it that sweet, velvety feel.
Time to play with makeup
Not that we don’t love our nude lipstick, but thank god for holiday makeup and the explosion of colour that is coming our way! Everything just becomes so fun, and now’s the perfect time to experiment a little and indulge in makeup as much as you like. Try this sultry smokey eye look, and make sure you have some poppin’ sexy mascara to really bring up that drama. Wear a sassy red lipstick, or maybe go for a deep berry shade, and for some extra dose of glam, add some shimmery lip gloss in the middle to make your lips appear fuller.
Highlighter, yay!
Highlighter deserves a paragraph of its own because, really, who doesn’t want the ability to direct traffic lights and be visible from the moon with their gorgeous, glowing face? We joke, but really, highlighter is the thing to turn to for the holidays. Add a subtle dab of it on the top of your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and your cupid’s bow, or hell, go all in. Who needs subtlety when there’s a Christmas tree in the room?
Quick fixes
Between all the dinners and parties, you’ll have tired days and your face will be swollen, puffy, possibly pimply, and generally annoying to deal with. Here’s a quick little fix for under-eye bags and dark circles: make some tea and then take those tea bags and let them cool in the fridge. Enjoy your tea, and when you’re done, take them out and put them on your eyes for five minutes. Bad breath after all that spicy food? Brush your teeth, but don’t forget to clean your tongue as well – a tongue scraper works well here. Acne? Crush a little aspirin tablet and mix it with a few drops of water until it’s made into a paste. Apply it to a pimple overnight.
Now’s the time to glow on, goddess. Get out there and dance, laugh, and let your beauty shine!

Keeping hydrated is so important! I feel like I only remember to drink enough only when I’m at home anyway so I really need to pay attention to that during the holidays. And make sure that I keep doing my skincare routine, every time I’m ill I’m too tired to take care of my skin and it definitely shows so I don’t want that to happen… haha. I can’t wait to use all the highlighter :)x

I’ve been feeling under the weather recently and have neglected my skincare so bad! Need to get back into it 😛
Love this post! Such a nice little Tio guide in how to tackle this winter!
I’m so happy you like it!
Okay I feel like I really needed a post like this! I’m so not prepared to feel glam this season but these are great tips. I feel like I’ve started to neglect my skin care routine due to how busy I am, but I will definitely get back into a routine xxx
It’s always difficult when you’re busy, isn’t it? Sometimes just the thought of putting in effort into my skincare makes me sooooo tired haha I need to keep riminding myself that I need to put more time and effort into this
This is so helpful! I definitely need to keep hydrated more as sometimes I don’t even realise that I’ve barely drank anything all day – which is so bad. I love playing around with make-up and doing different creative looks x

Same! Luckily, when we have guests over for some reason I drink more haha
This is such a helpful post, I always seem to forget to drink water and that’s probably why my skin lacks hydration! Also can’t wait to play around with makeup, already worn a red lip which isn’t usual for me

I’m so excited to play with makeup! And with nails, I’ll see if I can come up with some cute Christmas design, that would be so cool
This is a great post! We definitely get a bit relaxed and lazy during the colder months, well I know i do! I most definitely just need to get my butt into gear and actually feel great this festive season. I love this post and I’m definitely really excited for the festive period.

I do as well! It requires a lot of motivation sometimes to stay on top of your skincare routine!
Love that you are doing guest posts! These are some great tips, especially the teabags under the eyes!x

It’s my first one and I loved it!! Had a couple of other people message me about it but they never got back to me again :/
I always ensure that I clean my face properly and well throughout the festive period, because I tend to wear makeup for longer periods of time, and my face feels a little dirty after hours of makeup wear.. 🙈 I love your tip about tea bags, I’ve never heard of that before! 😍
So many useful tips in this post, am I right? 🙂
Couldn’t agree more that staying hydrated is absolutely key! Plays such a huge part of glowing skin

It’s so important especially if you drink a lot of alcohol and eat a lot of salty food!
No way, I’ve never heard of that aspirin on spots trick before, I’m going to try it haha! I’m really looking forward to Christmas this year which is surprising as I kind of usually dread it but I definitely agree with trying not to stress too much whether it be over money or time or anything, it’s a time about happiness and sharing it with your loved ones!

Can’t wait for Christmas now! It’s so close I can smell it. I’m so excited to spend time with my family <3
I loved this post!, I definitely can slack a little when it comes to skincare on the holidays, I also love experimenting with my make-up around this time of year!.
I’m so glad you liked it!
