Demi Lovato inspired makeup look

Demi Lovato inspired makeup look

I know it’s a long way until the weekend but I thought it would be a good idea to do an evening makeup look. Or a daytime, if you’re into strong eyeshadow looks. Personally, I rarely use dark shades so it was a challenge for my and my brushes. I might have used some swear words along the line. I applaud every single person who has the patience to do it so often. You’re the real MVP.

I attempted to do a purple smokey eye makeup and to my surprise, it didn’t look as though I had two black eyes. The look was based on Demi Lovato’s makeup from the Smurfs premiere earlier this year. I’m no Demi Lovato, but I looked at my never used purple eyeshadows and thought I could play around. After all, I had nothing to lose, right?

It took me a while, cost a few pokes in the eye and tears, but I ended up pleased with the outcome. I think it would make for a great night-out makeup. If you want to know how to make it keep on reading!

The base

For the base of my makeup look, I first start with Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation and concealer in Light Porcelain. Normally,  I would also use my powder to set everything in place, but this time I decided to do it when my eyes were done. I filled my eyebrows in using Models Own Now Brow! brow powder in Dark Brown. To read a step by step tutorial on how I do my eyebrows click here.

The eyes

For my eye look I used Zoeva En Taupe eyeshadow palette. To start off I dabbed Stitch By Stitch onto my eyelid using a fluffy brush. Then using Autograph Dual Action Brush I put Old Master in the crease of my eyes and blended it in. At that point, I got really scared because I looked terrifying, but it gets better, trust me. Using the same shade and brush I went over my lower lash line and blended it in as well. To make the look more purple, I gently blended in Exquisite over the dark eyeshadow. For a slightly more smokey look you can also add a bit of a black eyeshadow, but just in the outer corner of your eye – you still want to make purple your main colour. To finish it off, I used Handmade in the middle and inner corner of my eyelids blending it in.  At the end, I applied Rimmel Day & Night mascara on both my upper and lower lashes.

The finishing touches

When my eyes were done, I brushed my face with an Autograph powder brush using Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Transparent. Demi’s face is always perfectly contoured so to achieve a similar look I used Rimmel Insta Duo Contour Stick in Light and blend it in using my beauty blender. I find that it gives me a better coverage than using a brush and a stick is so much easier to apply than powder in my opinion. To contour I just follow my bone structure as it looks more natural than putting it in places most tutorials advise you to. Then I used the highlight stick under my eyebrows, on my nose and cheekbones. For my lips, I used Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick in Moca.

I am aware that I’m slightly obsessed with Rimmel products… It’s just such a good budget brand!

So there you go! Finished Demi Lovato inspired makeup look you can use to shine on a night-out or a date. Let me know what you think and send me pictures if you try it out!

Good look! I’m all about affordable makeup, to be honest 😛 Why waste so much on makeup when skin care should be the most important. Rimmel is a good brand and I also enjoy Wet n Wild, Essence and LA. Girl 🙂

Whenever I attempt a purple smokey eye it always looks like I have black eyes as well. It takes me a few attempts but yours looks so lovely. I tend to avoid purple/pinks but this makes me want to test out a few new looks. Demi is a great person to mimic.

Give it another try! Pinks and nudes are what I use normally but watching other people rock green eyeshadows (never will I do it) or blue or anything really I feel like I should be more adventurous with my makeup. Good luck!
