I love makeup. If I had money, I’d buy it every day. Nars, Mac, Urban Decay… You name it, it’s on my list. Unfortunately, despite my biggest efforts, my budget does not let me become an owner of any makeup products from these companies. Sigh. One day, guys, one day. For now, I’ll have to be satisfied with blog posts about them.
I am, however, a proud owner of a pretty big collection of other makeup brands. The amazing drug store companies who are not playing around and give me what I need at a reasonable price. I took a look at my makeup collection and picked out the ones I love and couldn’t live without. I’m a Budget Beauty and I’m proud of it!
I never used to use primers when doing my makeup. I just didn’t see the point of it. Until one day I decided to give it a go and let me tell you – this primer is the best. It is very light smooth you can’t feel it on your face at all. And it gives you all the benefits it says it would! Sometimes when I don’t feel like wearing makeup but my face has one of those days when it’s extremely shiny it’s enough to put this primer on and I’m good to go!
I experimented a lot with foundations and concealers and I was struggling to find the ones that would not be too heavy on my skin and wouldn’t leave my face feeling like a mask. These two bad boys do their job perfectly and are super easy to blend. I tend to have dark circles under my eyes (what can I say, so many TV shows to watch, so little time!) but the concealer covers them up so well you’d never say I missed a night of sleep.
Sometimes I don’t feel like blending in my foundation, but I do want some coverage. Sometimes I want to wear makeup but don’t want it too heavy on my skin and dry it out. That’s when I reach for my BB cream because BB creams are just awesome. It’s super light and creamy and I know that it will moisturise my skin throughout the day.
I am aware it’s a primer AND setting spray. I never use it before applying makeup, but I know for sure it’s a lifesaver when it comes to setting it in place. I have to be honest – when I saw it I wasn’t sure if it would work. I felt like it would be a waste of money because if my powder can’t stay on my face forever, a spray surely wouldn’t. Oh was I wrong. Thanks to this spray my makeup actually stays on my face a lot longer. It’s a big relief, especially in this hot weather – I used to end up with no makeup left by the end of the day. And loads of it on my T-shirt. Yaiks. It is a great investment and it lasts for ages. And… It smells like cucumbers. What else do you need?
I think I’ve been using this powder since I started putting makeup on. It is just so good. I know that many Youtubers and bloggers swear by it and I know what they mean. It’s cheap. It works. It doesn’t make your face stiff. It covers the makeup perfectly. And it’s got natural minerals in it. I’m sold.
That’s another one of my favourites. I’m always scared to put a blush on. I don’t want to end up with really pink cheeks like I’ve just run a marathon. But I do want some colour on my pale face. This little blush comes in a variety of colours to choose from. I tend to go for 020 Pink Rose, I find it gives the most natural look. Rimmel does not lie – the blush is really soft so it takes quite a lot of effort to overdo it. If you’re like me and you can never decide when enough pink is enough, this little piece is exactly what you need.
I tried a lot of mascaras in my life. I mean it. I went through all the possible choices, all the drug store brands and it just never worked for me. My lashes would always look heavy, they’d stick together and I’d end up with this really horrible look. Nightmare. Day 2 Night mascara helped me solve this problem. It has 2 brushes – one for length and one for volume. Sometimes I use only one, sometimes I go for two, depends what I’m going for with my look. But this mascara makes my lashes look natural. There’s no clumps or lashes stuck together. The brushes really separate them! I always end up coming back to this mascara, because I know this is the best product out there.
I always struggle when it comes to doing my eyebrows. Apart from over-plucking it (I swear it’s an addiction) I always had a problem with making them look like they’re from the same family. I know they’re not meant to be twins, but sometimes mine look like they’re not even neighbours! That’s why it’s so important to me to make them even. I wasn’t too good at the beginning, and sometimes I still make them look super dark and really thick, but I find it a lot easier to fill my eyebrows in with this brow powder. I can always gradually build the colour up as I go so I don’t go overboard (it is never so easy to do that with a crayon, at least in my experience). Thank you, Models Own!
Golden Rose absolutely smashes it when it comes to nail polishes and lipsticks. Their products are long-lasting and easy to apply. And they have a massive choice of colours! I always leave with a bag filled with lip crayons and liners because one can never have enough. My go-to are colours are nudes and light pinks, I’m not too keen on reds and I look like a zombie when I put on a purple lipstick on. I’m always jealous of people who can actually pull it off.
As you can see I have a favourite brand I always buy and I have never been disappointed by them yet. Rimmel is always on point with their cosmetics and their new #Insta range gives my heart a flutter. I wish I could buy all of the store, but that will have to wait.
