August Beauty Favourites

August Beauty Favourites

Happy 1st of September everyone! Whilst everyone is settling down on Hogwarts Express I thought it would be a good idea to provide something to read – train journeys can be boring at times. And with the start of the new month, it calls for an August beauty favourites post. Now, I am not planning on doing this every month simply because I don’t buy new products to try every 30 days. But there have been quite a few products which I discovered over the summer and been loving them a lot last month. So put your trunk safely on the shelf above your head, take a seat and maybe buy some snacks because hey, your parents aren’t here so you might as well stuff yourself with sweets. Shall we?

August Beauty Favourites

The first product(s) I have to mention is Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour. I’ve heard so many good things about them and wanted to get them for a while but never had the budget for new lipsticks. Luckily, it turned out that over the years I’ve collected nearly £20 worth of points on my Boots card. It felt a bit like Christmas.

I got two of the lipsticks in shades Moca and Fire Starter. The first time I applied them I noticed how amazing they feel on your lips. Normally, nude lipsticks give you this dry lips feeling, like you haven’t drunk water in three years. With these lipsticks, I forgot I even had a lip colour put on! What is more, they did not dry my lips which I’m extremely thankful for. The other amazing thing about them is that they actually stay on FOREVER. I went out, had dinner and drinks and my lipstick did not budge. It didn’t smudge or end up in my stomach OR my teeth. In fact, it looked the same as when I applied it hours ago.

I think of it as a massive advantage but also a slight disadvantage as they stay on so well you need to put a lot of effort when removing your makeup. I mean A LOT.

Another product in my August Beauty Favourites is Batiste Dry Shampoo. Now, I’ve been using Batiste dry shampoos for years now, but I discovered this scent last month and I LOVE IT. Move over Original, Nice is a better smell. I am not a big fan of sweet scents so I’m quite surprised I grabbed this one from the shelf. It lured me in. It is not too sweet and makes my hair smell like I’ve just jumped out of the shower because it reminds me of a shampoo smell. More so than other scents. I’m not going to try and sell you the benefits of dry shampoos because I’m confident everyone knows it by now. But if you haven’t given the sweet & charming Nice scent a try yet, I’d highly recommend it. And look how cute the packaging looks!

August Beauty Favourites

Models Own have recently come out with a brand new range of their makeup and nail polishes. As much as I don’t really like glitter and covering my face with it (maybe I’ll learn) I do like buying new nail varnishes. I spent ages going through their store and found this gem – Spray My Name Hyper Gel. This bottle is packed with white and pink glitter. And I mean it. Usually, it would take me 2-3 coats to actually cover my nails with an acceptable amount of decorations. With this product, all I need is 1 coat. It’s such a time-saver! It looks stunning on nails as well. I always put a nail varnish in any shade of pink or white underneath but it could go on a bare nail as well and still look great. Highly recommend!

Last, but not least – my very new toner. In all honesty – I have never used a toner before *GASP* I know, I’m a Beauty Blogger and I didn’t even use a toner. I just never felt the need to do it. But when I was out shopping recently I came across this little bottle. It’s Ziaja Acai Berry Antioxidant Toner with Hyaluronic Acid which is advertised to protect your skin against first wrinkles. I’m not scared of wrinkles myself, but the bottle also says it’s great for dull, sensitive and tired skin which sounded like a perfect description of my face. You may recognise this brand from my previous post (read it here) – I’m aware it’s Polish and may not be available everywhere. However, there are so many websites selling it and shipping it worldwide, I’d give it a shot.

After just a week of using it, I can already tell the difference. My skin looks a lot more radiant and relaxed. It’s moisturised, my spots started to disappear and all the imperfections look a bit less imperfect. I don’t actually have many wrinkles apart from my eyes so I can’t say if this toner made any difference in that aspect. It’s infused with Provitamin B5 and Vitamin C which gives it a lovely citrus smell. You don’t need a lot of product either – it’s equipped with a spray diffuser so you just need to spray a little bit onto a cotton pad and pat it on your face. All for a mere £3. I’ll keep you updated on my wrinkles situation.

August Beauty Favourites

That’s all the Beauty products I’ve been loving this August! Can’t wait to see what September brings and what products it’ll throw my way.

Also, how is it September already? I swear we were just celebrating New Years not that long ago. I have absolutely no idea what happened but this year is going with the speed of light. It’s September which means I’m turning 23 next month… Someone make the time slow down a bit? Can we go back in time and wear big hoop earrings dancing to Backstreet Boys again?

Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this post share it with your friends, like it and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog! I don’t send spam out, I promise.

I love them, they’re my favourite lip products atm! But yeah, I need to rub my lips for good 5 minutes before they are actually clean. I’ve heard using baby oil or oil based cleansers is meant to make it easier!

It really does! I was so impressed with it, I put it on in the morning and went for lunch and dinner and in the evening it was still on! So so good.

I’ve read so many good posts about those Rimmel lip products, I think this might be the post that has finally given me a kick to go get myself some, seeing as it’s just been payday too! Also a little (not so) fun fact, your skin actually starts to age as soon as you hit the young age of 20 so using a toner that helps prevent wrinkles is a good shout even if you don’t see them yet!

That nail varnish looks amazing! I’ve always struggled with dry shampoo – I was probably doing it wrong but it always looked much worse after I used it, I definitely need to give it another go as so many people have raved about it!xx

For a very long time I didn’t actually know you need to rub it in like a normal shampoo! Otherwise you end up with white roots 😀
