Hi, it’s nice to see you again! Thanks for popping in and welcome (back) to my blog. Today I’m doing the Shuffle The Music tag! I was tagged by Lisa from lisawilliamsx.com – check out her blog because she’s a super cool girl.
This gave me slight anxiety as I’m not the fan of putting my playlists on shuffle. I’m one of those people who need to know which song is coming next. Let’s call it playlist OCD. Luckily, I like a vast majority of the songs in my playlists so it was okay. Let’s see what comes up!
Warning: Boybands and music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s are still my guilty pleasure. You may be in for an interesting throwback ride.
- How Far I’ll Go – Alessia Cara
You’re lying to yourself if you say you don’t enjoy this song. I actually do the whole routine to it and I stare out of the window like I could see the edge of the water myself. Even if I mess up the lyrics (which happens more often than I would like) I still jump around pretending I’ve got a pet pig – I’m not ashamed to admit that! I play this one on repeat very often. It just has this magical power to lift me up if I’m feeling down. Pumps me up with new fresh energy to move the mountains. If you haven’t watched Moana yet (and I know there is a little percentage of people who haven’t seen it), what are you doing with your life? Finish this post and go put it on. You can thank me later.
2. Only You – Selena Gomez
This song gives me so many feels! I binge-watched ’13 Reasons Why’ in a few days and I cannot wait to see what the second season will be about. The series itself caused a mixture of reaction and I can definitely see why. I did find it difficult to watch at times. The episodes are very raw and graphic, but the story sucked me in so much that I couldn’t not finish it. Whether you like the series or not – there is nothing wrong about the soundtrack. I think Selena’s voice matches the series perfectly. I can listen to this song on repeat and I wouldn’t get bored.
3. Runaway – Matt Corby
Matt Corby has a voice of an angel. His music is just so hypnotising, once you start listening to it there is absolutely no way back. It’s a perfect choice for a relaxed night in, listening whilst you’re having a bath, singing in the car and pretending you’re in a music video (it’s my favourite pass time ever) or, pretty much, any other situation in your life. Matt Corby will fix everything and make it better.
4. Home/Dirty Paws – Gardiner Sisters
I’m not really into acoustic songs or covers. This song is definitely an exception. I wish I could play the guitar just so I could join in during the song and become their fourth sister in the squad. It’s so easy to sing along to it. It always relaxes me and gives me a warm feeling in my stomach.
5. Evermore – Josh Groban
I am obsessed with ‘Beauty and the Beast’. It very quickly became one of my favourite movies, because one, it’s a Disney story, two, Emma Watson plays in it and three, well there’s so many beautiful songs in it. I swear I know the lyrics to every single one by now. And I can hum the orchestra bits as well. I can basically hum and sing you the whole movie. ‘Evermore’ is such an emotional song, it always gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. Personally, I prefer Dan Stevens’ version. But I cannot fault Josh Groban’s voice. Excuse me while I go and cry my eyes out listening to it now.
6. Hearts Don’t Break Around Here – Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran is one of the very few men who can actually explain love, relationships and life like no one else can. I mean ‘She’s the river flow in Orwell and tin wind chimes used for doorbells’? Men should be taking classes in ‘Ed Sheeran’ haha I love this song. It’s so gentle. So subtle. But with a beautiful message (as other of his songs). I don’t even think the world deserved this beautiful ginger human being.
7. Mou Les Na Zo Anamnisis (Buralardan Giderin) – Giorgos Mazonakis
I should probably explain that my boyfriend is Greek and we share one Spotify account. I’m not complaining though, he’s got a pretty amazing taste in music. One of the perks of having the same account is that I get to listen to so many Greek songs. They always make me feel like I’m on holiday. I can just close my eyes and I’m on the beach overlooking the beautiful crystal clear Greek sea. I’m also a sucker for foreign languages. I love Greek language. Even though I cannot understand the lyrics, I still get the emotions and love listening to this song. Or any other Greek song.
8. Freak – Little Mix
Little Mix is my guilty pleasure. I wouldn’t call myself a massive fan and this song is definitely not my favourite. But their voices are still beautiful. And it makes me feel a bit like a badass. I wish I could do the dance routines they do on stage!
9. Let It Go – James Bay
This song makes me so sad when I listen to it. It is beautiful and emotional. It is so sad when people change who they are just to please the other person in a relationship. To the point where they don’t recognise themselves anymore. I like listening to sad songs because there is just something so special about them. They have so much more emotions packed into them. You can always find a song that matches your situation and your mood and it’s a beautiful thing about music. Plus, this song has the advantage of James Bay and his incredible voice.
10. When Christmas Comes Around – Matt Terry
Is it too early to be listening to Christmas songs? Asked no one ever. It made me so excited when this song came on! I was rooting for Matt to win the X-factor since his first audition. I had to listen to everyone in my house criticising me for that (“You only like him because he looks like that guy from One Direction!“). He may look like Louis Tomlinson, but that boy can sing. And the high notes he could reach… I’m really happy with the fact that he won. And that I could be a part of this by voting for him. This is such a beautiful Christmas song. I can’t wait to see what else he’s going to come up with.
11. Ruin – Shawn Mendes
Another song I absolutely adore. It kinda reminds me of a school dance and the awkward slow dances where you didn’t know where you should look. Because definitely not into someone else’s eyes, am I right? It makes me giggle when I think about it now. Can’t wait to see my kids go through that stage. Shawn is a Canadian version of Ed Sheeran. At least in my eyes. He’s an amazing human with a beautiful voice. I just can’t get enough of it.
12. Ordinary People – John Legend
I feel so blessed with the songs coming on so far! They bring back so many emotions and memories. John Legend is in the same category as Ed and Shawn, I love the three of them to bits. Their songs speak to me on many levels. I like this song because it always makes me feel a bit better about my life choices and relationships. Afterall, we’re just ordinary people and we don’t know which way to go right? It taught me that it’s okay to fight and make up. That relationships aren’t a walk in the park and they require a lot of work. As always on point, John Legend.
13. Drag Me Down – One Direction
Laugh at me all you want but I’m still a massive Directioner. There you go, I said it. I don’t care if they ever get together or not, I’ll still be listening to their old albums. They helped me believe I was worth something when I was 15-years-old and thought I was bound to be alone for the rest of my life. I admit I may have been a bit overly dramatic. Their music used to make me really happy and, to be fair, it still does.
14. Cisza – Bednarek
I don’t have many favourite Reggae songs, but this one is amazing. I know it’s a Polish song, so it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but my boyfriend loves it and he doesn’t understand a word. There is something magical about listening to a song you can’t understand. You have to listen to the emotions of the singer to understand what he’s singing about and it is such a different and deeper experience.
15. I Need Your Love – Shaggy, Mohombi, Faydee, Costi
I don’t think I have an opinion on this song. All it reminds me of now is gym classes and Zumba. It’s got the right rhythm. And it just makes me want to jump around and move. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything else to say about this song. I don’t even know how it made it’s way into my saved songs on Spotify.
There you go! My Shuffle The Music Tag. It wasn’t as embarrassing as I thought it would be (thank you Spotify). Thanks to this tag I got to go through some songs I haven’t listened to for such a long time! I had great fun.
Now I’d like to nominate:
- Mention the blogger who tagged you
- “Shuffle” and list the first 15 songs that come up
- Talk about why you like each of the songs
- If you want, you can talk about more than 15 songs
What are your favourite songs?
