Liebster Award nomination

Thank you so much, Shannon, for nominating me for the Liebster Award. I’m nervous and excited to write this post because I have never done anything like that before. If you don’t know what a Liebster Award is – you get nominated to answer 11 questions about you and your blog and then you get to name 11 people of your choice to answer your set of questions. Sounds really cool, doesn’t it? It’s a great way to get to know each other and have some fun!

You can read Shannon’s post in which she nominated me here: https://goingwithhappy.com/2017/08/06/liebster-award/

So here we go!

Liebster Award

1) Why did you start blogging?

I have started blogging because I wanted to share my opinions and tips with other people. I really enjoy reading blogs and I feel like there is always a place for newbies. And the blogging community is so welcoming and helpful! I am a very creative person and absolutely adore writing – blogging is just another way of expressing myself. I don’t find many blogs on recreating the looks or with themed makeup looks. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places. So I’ve decided that that’s what my blog would be about. Don’t get me wrong, by no means am I a makeup artist if anything quite opposite. But it’s something I enjoy doing and I think I am pretty good at it. So why not?

2) What are your hobbies?

Writing is definitely my hobby. I always write. Poems, short stories, book ideas… You name it. I’m not a person who’s very good at talking to people face to face because my mind just goes blank (anyone else?) so I’m making up for it in writing. I’ve been told I’m very good at it so hopefully, at some point, I’ll manage to make a career out of it. It’d be a dream.

3) What makes you happy?

There are so many things in life that make me happy. Spending time with my family and friends. Watching my favourite TV shows (apart from the times when they make me cry). Reading books. Playing with my dog. Going for walks. Daydreaming. Blogging. Writing. Cooking. I believe that to be happy you need to find something good in every day, even if it is the smallest thing.

4) What are your goals, both with the blog and in your own life?

My goal in life is to feel happy and fulfilled. I would love to become a full-time blogger, but if it doesn’t work out, then I’ll still be happy. As long as I’ve got my family and friends around me, I can’t ask for anything more. Of course, I could go on about how much I want to earn loads of money, have a big house and three cars, but these things are less important to me in life. They would make it easier, but not necessarily happier. Do you know what I mean?

5) What are things you’ve done that you feel have increased your blog traffic?

Honestly? I’ve got absolutely no idea. Somehow I went from no views at all to at least a few every day which makes me really happy. I’m still waiting for regular subscribers to come but I’ve got some follows and I didn’t expect that to happen at all. It’s my second attempt at blogging, the first one failed miserably, but I’m hopeful this blog will do so much better.

6) What does your daily routine look like?

As I’m currently unemployed, I’ve got a lot of free time. Usually, after I wake up and eat breakfast I spend between 3-4h applying for different jobs. Then when I feel like my mind is spinning and I can’t think of anything smart to say anymore I watch Youtube videos or read blogs/books. In the late afternoon, I start working on new blog posts. All throughout the day, I squeeze in an odd Tweet or two either promoting my blog or just saying something random. Around 6pm I start panicking because I forgot to drink during the day and try to force down 2l of water. When it’s finally time to wind down I do my usual evening routine. I will light up some candles and spend some quiet time reading a book. It always helps me to calm down and makes falling asleep so much easier.

7) How do you stay on top of managing your blog, writing for it, and promoting it?

The answer is – I don’t. I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for scheduling tweets. Sometimes I just forget that I actually have to put a link to my blog out there for people to find it. Or I know I’ll be too busy during the day to tweet. I have planned my blog post topics for the next couple of months, which makes me very excited – now I just have to make them happen! I have a blogging schedule and I do, or at least try to, post every Tuesday and Friday. Knowing that the deadline is coming soon motivates me a lot to get it done and published. But at the same time, I don’t panic if I don’t manage to write it on time and it’s a day late.

8) Who are your top 5 favourite bloggers to read?

Charlotte – https://charlottesmakeupblog.com/

Hanney – http://www.blogabouthanney.com/

Rebecca – http://bexfaye.com/

Poppy – http://www.poppydeyes.com/

Zoella (obvs) – https://www.zoella.co.uk/

9) What helps you wind down after a long day?

It depends. Sometimes I really struggle to fall asleep. On days like that, I’m even more thankful for my boyfriend. He always rubs my back and talks to me, which helps me relax. And fall asleep. My evening routine helps a lot as well. It sets an alarm in my brain that says OKAY, BEDTIME. Then it’s just enough to grab a book for a quick read or watch a movie and 99% of the time I fall asleep in my glasses and with the lights on. And then I wonder why my glasses are always uneven.

10) Do you enjoy blogging as much as when you started?  How do you stay motivated with it?

I started blogging only a month ago so, at least for now, it’s still a lot of fun. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be even more fun as the time goes by. I want to make it a lot better than it is now, but I need to save some money for it first. I have this vision in my head of what I want it to look like and this is my goal. When I reach it, I’ll have other goals for it. I think goal setting is what keeps me motivated. Plus, it’s just a really good hobby to have!

11) Where do you get your inspiration for blogging?

I get my inspiration from other bloggers. Seeing their content makes me think about what I want from my blog and what I want to write about. I also think of new blog ideas through thinking what I would like to read. If I can’t find something online, then I make a note of it and it potentially becomes my next topic.

There you go – a bit of me and my twisted mind in front of you. Hope you enjoyed it!
