I am a massive Harry Potter fan. I re-read the books and re-watch the movies on a regular basis and I never get bored. Which is why I was so excited for this Harry Potter tag! I was tagged by Lisa (you can find her at: https://lisawilliamsxblog.wordpress.com/ – she’s got a lovely blog!) and take on the challenge of answering the questions. Let’s do this!
What house are you in?
I was sorted into Hufflepuff and I could not be happier about it. When I was reading the books Hufflepuff was my least favourite house, but I have grown fond of it as the time went by. Now I am absolutely in love with it and would not want to be anywhere else. I am very happy with the fact that this house is getting more and more recognition thanks to Newt Scamander. Hufflepuff for the win!
What is your patronus?
My patronus is a Manx cat. I did some research and found out that those with this patronus are good under pressure and in difficult situations. They are fierce. Loyal. Unstoppable. I like the description very much 😀
What is your wand?
My wand is Ebony wood with a Phoenix feather core 12 1/2 inches and slightly yielding flexibility. That’s a mouthful. But I just love the way it sounds. The description says that this is the perfect wand for someone who is not afraid to be himself and someone who is comfortable to be considered different from others – an individual. Phoenix feather cores are also the rarest core type. If that doesn’t make me a very unique witch, I don’t know what will.
What would your boggart be?
I’ve seen many people say that they’re not entirely sure what their boggart would be. It’s not very easy to me either, but there is one thing that I am scared of the most. I don’t know how it would look but I am scared of darkness (never grew out of it) so maybe it would just be a patch of black floating in the air, but then that’s not scary, is it? I’m sure a boggart would figure it out though.
What position would you play in Quidditch?
I’d definitely be a Seeker. I’d love to be in the spotlight and follow in the footsteps of Harry and Krum. I feel like I’d be a good Seeker as well. I’ve got quick reactions and I think I’d spot the Snitch pretty quick.
Would you be Pure Blood, Muggle born or Muggle?
Just like everyone else, I’ll use this guideline:
Muggles: People who haven’t seen the movies or read the books
Muggle-borns: People who have only seen the movies
Half-bloods: People who have only read the books
Pure Bloods: People who have read the books and seen the movies
Deatheaters: Pure Bloods that look down on Muggle-borns
I’m a Deatheater. Sorry, everyone, it’s just embedded in me. I swear I’m not that bad though. Most of the time I struggle to understand why people would only watch the movies. They’re missing out! There are no many things that were not included in the movies. I just don’t understand it. I wouldn’t treat them like Pure Bloods usually treated Muggle-borns though. I’m just not that kind of person.
What job would you want after graduating from Hogwarts?
I’d work in the Ministry of Magic at the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office. It sounds like so much fun! Imagine all the Muggle objects doing things they shouldn’t be doing. I was always so jealous of Arthur Weasley. I think I’d enjoy his job just as much as he did.
Which of the Deathly Hallows would you choose?
Invisibility Cloak! I already have a very powerful wand and I do think I would end up like the middle Peverel brother if I had the Resurrection Stone. But how cool is the Cloak? It never runs out, you can just sneak in everywhere and listen to other people’s conversations! No more secrets.
Disclaimer: I do not own this photo, I found it on Pinterest and on Pixalry website
My favourite book would have to be the Half-Blood Prince. It was one of the most interesting parts and it was full of funny comments. I also loved that we got to learn so much about Voldemort and his past. It definitely offered a different look at him and in a way I felt really sorry for him. I mean, I can see why he turned out the way he was and what his motives were.
Least favourite book?
The Order of Phoenix. First of all, Sirius dies. Second of all, Umbridge. And this was the only DVD I owned and I watched it over and over again so in the end I got fed up with the story. I still love it, just not as much.
I wish I could match my favourite book with favourite movie, but I can’t. The movie missed out on so many important parts of the book that I don’t think I could forgive them for it. I know they can’t possibly fit everything in, but I’ve got a feeling people wouldn’t mind watching a Harry Potter movie that was 4h long, would they? My favourite movie is the Deathly Hallows (both parts, sorry, can’t choose). I think it was such a good culmination of the story. I was a bit disappointed by the final battle between Harry and Voldemort, but as a whole, I enjoyed this the most. Hermione and Ron get together (finally). Ginny and Harry get together (finally). We get to see a different side to Snape. Dobby becomes the hero of all the heroes. It just made me feel all sorts of emotions that other films didn’t.
Least favourite film?
The Order of Phoenix. First of all, Sirius dies. Second of all, Umbridge. And you already know I watched it way too many times.
It is so difficult to pick my favourite character! I don’t want to be bait and cliche, but I don’t want to say a name just for the sake of it. I have to say that Hermione is my favourite character. She was the first female character in a book that actually had things to say. She was strong and smart. She wasn’t scared to express her opinions even if they were unpopular. She spent most of her time surrounded by books. And she wasn’t considered pretty – at least not until puberty hit Emma Watson. I used to have really bushy hair when I was in primary school, I loved books than I people (still do) and always got great marks at school. I was picked on many times and most of the time peers would only speak to me if they wanted to copy my homework. I could see Hermione in me and me in her – it motivated me to be true to who I am no matter what.
Least favourite/most hated character?
Obviously, I hate Umbridge the most. But she was only a small part of the story so I thought I’ll choose a different person for this post. I cannot stand professor Trelawney. Maybe it’s because she was just very boring. Or that she kept predicting Harry’s death every year. I’m not sure. She just got on my nerves a bit and I’m not even sure why Ron and Harry chose Divination as their subject. They never took it seriously anyway.
Favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
Dumbledore. After all, he was a teacher at Hogwarts at some point. I just found him so extremely random at times that I loved him the most. He always had a way of knowing about everything that was happening. He said a lot of wise and important things that stuck with me. It just feels right to like him, you know? And after finding out what his life story was, I felt even deeper for him. I cannot wait to see Jude Law play young Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts series. It might be the first time I’ll actually fancy Dumbledore as well. Ugh… It felt wrong to say. Maybe I’ll do it secretly then.
Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?
I like Malfoy. I don’t consider him as a villain in the story. In my opinion think he was more of a victim to everything that was happening around him. He was raised a certain way but you could see him breaking at the end. He wasn’t born as a Deatheater and never asked to be Voldemort’s supporter. If he was born in a different family, he would be a decent boy in my opinion. How many people do you know who have the potential to be amazing, but behave a certain way because of the way they were brought up?
If you could save one character from the Final Battle, who would you save?
This is such a difficult question! I would save everyone if I could. I think Snape deserved a better way to die than to suffer from Nagini’s poison. Still, I think his death gave him peace and he could finally be reunited with Lily. All of the casualties deserved to live and see Harry’s victory. There is a death that felt particularly wrong in my heart. I’d save Lupin. As much as I loved Fred and would want to bring him back, reading about Lupin and Tonks lying on the floor of the Great Hall made my heart ache. Lupin had a special place in my heart since he first appeared in the Prisoner of Azkaban. I think he developed so much as a character and was ready to be a great father. His death was very difficult to deal with especially because his little baby was just born and I found it extremely unfair for Teddy to grow up not knowing his parents. Of course, it was very poetic for both Lupin and Tonks to die together. But I’m not changing my mind.
